Technical Production Services Workflow in the development of automation utilities (javascript, applescript, VB, pearlsctip), InDesign automation, XML transformation and other related production automation tasks. Oversees the day to day operation of Program Creation Engine/Custom Solution bookbuild and content transformation and delivery tasks. Has expertise with page composition software and technologies, including InDesign, InCopy, InMath, and has worked with integrated publishing systems such as WoodWing Smart Connection or SoftCare's K4. Works with internal development staff to resolve discrepancies related to automated composition output, and with the Publishing Services Technology team for system development and utility integration tasks.Project Planning/Implementation: Responsible for the overall organization and execution of production script utility and production automation development projects. Primary responsibilities will be organizing and managing script development projects including requirements gathering and management, development assignment, overseeing Quality Analysis and User Acceptance Testing, assisting with script documentation, and coordination with Technology Publishing Services (TPS) for production roll-out. Additional responsibilities will include overseeing application requirements and execution for external application development projects. Review annual performance of TPS staff as assigned by VP/TPS Workflow.Project Support: Act as senior TPS Workflow Automation (WFA) presence for assigned projects. Oversee completion of multiple projects. Ensure TPS staff and freelancers are adequately trained on new automation utilities and applications. Responsible for the performance of WFA managed utilities and applications across multiple projects to accomplish planned business results. Serves as point of contact for internal and external project staff to address technical and prepress concerns where automation tools are involved; escalates concerns that affect project completion to Sr. Dir. TPS. Supports the development, communication and implementation of TPS WFA business objectives to achieve department and company results through effective resource management.Project status: Monitor progress of overall project assignments by coordinating data and working closely with product development counterparts in Design and Project Management Office (PMO). Provide project status information as required. Alert Electronic Production Director to any schedule or quality problems and recommend solutions.Troubleshooting: Serve as chief technical resource for project TPS staff on multiple disciplines by providing technical expertise and solutions throughout project production. Serve as liaison between development teammembers.Staff Development: Actively develops staff to support the objectives of the department and the company.Research and Development: Takes initiative in staying abreast of technology developments and trends. Stays current with additions to Integrated Publishing System(SCE, MediaBin, Adobe Custom Solutions Suite, and PDF pre-press) and Applescript/JavaScript functionality.
